Virtuoso can be a real thing...

My good friend Jon is writing a comic and it's outstanding. What he is doing is unlike anything in comics right now. He has a kickstart going right now and could use some green to help it make the scene. Know what I mean? Here's a message from Jon himself.

Hello all--

Two weeks ago I started a Kickstarter project to get Virtuoso's second book (called, ironically, Book One) out. By raising 2,900 dollars, I'd be able to reprint the first book, pay Krista Brennan to draw the second issue, and launch the Virtuoso Compendium, a wiki that will let readers create the setting's history on their own.

Some of you know this. Some of you have been enormously helpful. Jake von Slatt, Noah of Improbable Cog, Thom and Lyssa of Lastwear, and Bergan of Little Red Studio have all donated time, attention, and products to make Virtuoso a comic with one foot in the imaginary and another in the real.

Many great things have come from this. I've given a speech about CC licensed world-building at Open Up, and I'll be teaching a class on indie comic creation at the Little Red Studio.

Virtuoso needs more. As of today, we are only at 27% of our required funds. We are down to the wire here. Virtuoso needs this money to continue-- without this money, Krista can't eat and I can't print books.

Every single one of you has an amazing ability to reach other people. Either by twitter, or Facebook, or blogs, you all have thousands of combined followers. I'm not asking for much more-- a link on a blog (to those who haven't already), a reminder to your Twitter followers that you supported us, or a quick email dashed off to a mailing list to point people in our direction. I just need a few more minutes of your time.

Thank you, and take care.

Jon Munger

Go and help these creative people out by making a donation and getting the word out. Good karma comes around.

Life in the Analog Age is going back to school.

This is the newest project from animation and comics guy Gabe Swarr (who you can find out more about at dumm comics) Every Tuesday he post a new short animation about growing up in a time before the internet and all bells and whistles that entails. They are all beautiful to look at and tug on all the nostalgia strings, old dusty strings that they are, which is a great way to start the day.

Sky James to lecture at OpenUp in Seattle!

Ok, so I'm more helping my good friend Adam with a fantastic idea he has to save the world. And IIIII Helped!

We'll be talking at the OpenUp monthly lecture series and I drew (well, I'll be drawing) some goofy cartoons to get cheep laughs. Yep, Adam brings leadership and a driving spirt to do good in the world and I draw stick-figures and make monkey sounds. Ah the wonder of open source networking.

So, you can find out where it's all going down and when at the OpenUp site. Its in North Seattle and don't feel too bad if you can't make it, cause it will be posted on line in the coming week. So come on by and have some food / drink and talk with some of the smartest people around...and me.

Rust City Blues

So here are a couple of sketches of some bad cops from a bad town. They are characters from a pen n' paper RPG I'm currently playing (yes people still play those and yes my mom thinks I'm cool).

Magilla Gorilla here is Chuck Brodski and the rather melancholy fellow is Sgt. Joe McIntyre. No. Not that Joe McIntyre. Hey, more then one person can be named McIntyre. Not everyone with the name is a "New Kid".

*sigh* Joey sure is dreamy, though...

I like these guys and I'll try to do some other characters and see where it goes.

We're Back! For the First Time!

So, I finaly broke down and desided to get more connected to the interwebs. Everyone else was doing it and I wanted people to read about my exciting adventures of going to QFC to buy chips and so on, so I went out to get a blog.

Turns out, I already had one! I don't even remember getting this!

Oh well. Guess it's time to make some post and let all of the people who have been setting in front of there computers, just waiting for something to come up on the sky james art blog, I mean just waiting for something. Anything. For like, years probably. Telling there loved ones, "Sorry hon. I can't work on our relationship right now. I got to wait for sky james to post something to his blog. This is important. It means something. Hon? You there? Baby?" But she's not. She's been gone a long time.

Guess it's time to give that something they've been craving. Ok, here you go.

So I the other day I went down to QFC to get these chips that I heard where on sale...
